1. RELATIVE CLAUSES, are clauses starting with the realtive pronouns who, that, which,
whose, where, when.
Examples :

Do you know the girl who started in the grade 7
last week?

Can I have the pencil that
I gave you this morning?

A notebook is a computer which
can be carried around.

I won’t eat in a restaurant whose
cooks smoke.

I want to live in a place where
there is lots to do.

Yesterday was a day when
everything went wrong!
2. CONDITIONAL SENTENCES, are sentences expressing factual implications, or hypothetical
situations and their concequences.
Types of conditional
sentences :
a.
Implicative and predictive
- If you heat the
water to 100 degrees, it boils.
- If the sea is stormy, the waves so high.
- If I become a president, I’ll lower taxes.
- If it’s raining now, then your laundry is getting wet.
- If he locked the door, then Kitty is trapped inside.
b.
Counterfactual
Examples :
-If I were king, I could have you thrown in the dungeon.
- If I won the lottery, I would buy a car.
- If he said to me, I would run away.
- If you had called me, I would have come.
- If you had done your job properly, we wouldn’t be in this mess now.
